Stanley #9-1/2 adjustable-throat block plane, Type 8A (1888)

Description

The workhorse of Stanley block planes. Japanning in bed on this one is 90% or better; usual worn-off japanning on the cap where the user’s palm rests; throat operates fairly smoothly but might need a touchup with a scraper on the edge of the throat plate.   A nice older 9-1/2; it’ll get the job done.

PS: the discoloration on the sole is sticky stuff from an old price tag, which I forgot to clean before taking the picture.  Apologies.
