Description
Marked “Harvey W. Peace /Brooklyn, NY/ Spring Steel Warranted”. No damaged teeth. About 2″ left under the handle. No noticeable pitting or other damage. Blade is dead straight, but the sharpening could use a touchup.
The real standout, though, is the handle. Not content with what must have been a carved applewood handle, the owner used the handle to make a negative mold and cast a new handle out of steel. Certainly durable, and I half-suspect that the purpose may have been to make the saw balance better when cutting joinery. What’s odd is that the owner must have replaced it *before* he broke the original.
One thing for sure — you’ll never see another one like it.
