Stanley #71 double marking gauge

Description

Curiously, this gauge does not bear the Stanley logo or product number, but it does carry the date of Justus Traut’s patent for the brass shoe locking mechanism, so it’s certainly a Stanley; the #71 is the only double gauge with a brass plate around the scribe and brass wear strips on the stock.   The scales are clear but slightly faint.  Scribes are in good shape with a lot of life left.
