Fillet and bead by J. Kellogg, Amherst, MA , 1835-1867

Description

This wooden plane is in above-average condition.  The cutter is sharp and well-maintained.    Wedge has the usual amount of mushrooming from inserting and removing the wedge.  Heel has the usual hammer marks from iron adjustment.   The one strange thing is a small strip of copper that’s been tacked into the fillet, probably to adjust for wear or simply to shorten the depth of the fillet.
