3/8″ tanged gouge, #7 sweep, sharpened outcannel, made by the Amesville Company.

Description

I had never heard of the Amesville Company, and can’t find a listing for them anywhere. This gouge is in well-above-average condition. The tang is firmly anchored in the handle with no wiggling. There is the usual wear to the handle, but no mushrooming on the striking face. The edge is pretty sharp. There’s about three inches left to the shoulder, enough for a few years of use.
