Description
Interesting gauge made sometime before 1892 — it is marked “Patent Pending”, presumably in anticipation of the Justus Traut’s design patent of 23 August 1892. “Ray St. Cyr” was the owner (his name is crudely engraved on the stock), and apparently ol’ Ray was a little careless as there are a few small chips out of the corners of the fence.
This is an unusual, top of the line Stanley gauge.
