Stanley #5-1/4 junior jack plane, type 15

Description

Stanley #5-1/4 junior jack plane.  These were made for what was then called “manual training courses” — in other words, shop class — and so typically they’ve been abused in some way or other.  Not so with this one.  The knob and tote are in good shape.  The sides are frosted, and there’s a small patch of pitting on the sole (visible in the photographs).   There’s a good bit of life left in the cutter.  The lateral adjuster does scrape a little on the back of the cutter but I think that’s just a matter of bending it slightly.

Will make a good worker, especially for those with smaller hands.
