Recessed quarter-round plane, boxwood

Description

Boxwood recessed 1/4 round plane.   Very nicely made, probably outside the US.  Spring lines are clearly visible, as are layout lines for cutting the opening for the wedge.  No maker’s mark.  There are rough saw marks on the heel.  That, and the fact that the wedge sits further back on the plane than is usual, makes me think this was a UK or European plane that was cut down to fit a toolbox.   At some point, a thin boxwood strip was added, probably to change the depth of the recess.
