Description
Auburn planes, like most other planes made in Auburn, were made by inmates at the state penitentiary there. Many would save scraps of wood and use them to make elaborate marquetry boxes, which they’d sell once they were released. I actually found one of these in an antique store near Ithaca, once upon a time.
As to this one, it has quite a lot of staining. The wedge has a few chips out of it, but nothing too bad. The cutter has a couple chips out of it and will need to be re-sharpened.
