Description
This unmarked vise is intended for light metalwork, probably with whitesmithing or jewelry making in mind. It looks like a late-19th or early 20th-century product. It incorporates a small anvil. The jaws are 2″ wide and the vise will take objects up to about 3″ in size. The clamp opens to about 2″, so will clamp to a fairly thick benchtop.
Japanning on the body of the vise is at about 85%. There are a couple of file marks on the jaws, the product of the usual carelessness ;). Clamp screw and jaws operate smoothly and easily. There is surprisingly little racking in the vise, even when the jaws are at maximum extension. A nice little vise for small metalwork.
